In these beginner-friendly workshops, we'll introduce and practice four jewelry-making techniques, play around with different decorating styles, layer a curated selection from our premium glaze collection, and get our hands really dirty. All abilities welcome and celebrated. Join us!
Slip-Trailing Ceramic Jewelry:
Thursday, March 13, 4pm
With a focus on colorful slip-trailing details on extruded bead forms, students will decorate beads made with our studio's wall extruder.
Slab-formed pendants
Thursday, March 20, 3:30pm
Students will learn to use our studio slab roller, texture library and Candace's private collection of jewelry making forms and templates.
Sgraffito Decorating with Underglazes:
Thursday, April 3, 4pm
Students will learn about underglazes and techniques of carving leather-hard clay to create contrasting colors and interesting designs. Students will work on beads that are preformed in our Pullman studio by our local artists.
UI Family Weekend Frozen Pond Cone 6 Glazing Techniques
Thursday, April 10, 4pm * These will be fired and ready for pick-up Saturday, 4/12 for Family Weekend)
Working with ceramic beads and pendants formed in our studio by our local artists, you will add the finishing touches by combining some of our curated collection of more than 100 cone 6 glazes. You will work 1:1 with Candace to go over recipes that harness the magic of mid-range glazes with companion glazes and textures. These glazes change color, move, interact and create stunning, and some times surprising, results.
