Custom Clay Wine Chillers
Custom Clay Wine Chillers
If you like functional pieces that can pull double or triple duty-- this Handmade Wine Chiller is it!
Using simple slab-building and sculpting techniques, students will create one-of-a-kind pottery that can be used to keep a bottle of wine cool on the table for hours. How? Just chill this tall vessel in the fridge or freezer at the same time you chill your wine. Then when you're ready to take the wine to the table, place the bottle in the chiller to keep it cool for hours. The natural clay retains the cold for a surprisingly long time.
Students will learn different strategies for adding texture patterns to their chillers-- and how texture interacts with our curated selection of Cone 6 glazes-- resulting in surprising colors and flowing beauty.
Dry January? That's ok! it will be February before this handmade wine chiller is ready to take home and use. This piece of functional art can also be used as a vase or as crock for kitchen utensils when it's too cold out to drink chilled wine. Basically, this piece of handmade pottery is your kitchen table's new bff, year-round.
All materials, clay and dip-glazing included; All abilities welcome and celebrated.
