Terracotta Pullman
Jul. 22-24

1-4 p.m.

Facilitated by Terracotta owner and founder, ceramicist and educator Candace Baltz, our camps encourage kids to get their hands dirty, use their imaginations, and sculpt what they think the clay wants to be. As a professional artist, Candace created and sold ceramic jewelry online and at fairs, and is excited to share her collection of tools and strategies with our young, emerging artists.

Kids and tweens are supported in learning the skills and techniques to make the outlined projects and themes of each camp--and more importantly-- enthusiastically encouraged to use those newly developed skills to sculpt imaginative pottery of their vision and creation. All clay, firing and food-safe dip-glazing is included in the cost of camp.

Day 1: Artists will work with clay to create pendants and beads. Using underglazes and sgraffito tools, artists will learn to add color, contrast and texture to their statement pieces.

Day 2: Artists will create a pendant using fused glass supplies and tools. Artists will also place small amounts of glass in selected beads created the day before, to fire over night.

Day 3: Artists will assemble their creations from the previous two days using our studio's collection of findings and jewelry-making tools. Campers will bring home their finished pieces and extra pendants and beads to enjoy.
