Our Clay-Cation amps introduce young artists to the pottery-wheel, sculpting, glazing and fused glass art. Artists learn and practice their new skills and are empowered to follow their own creativity to make what inspires them with the time, tools and materials provided.
Artists will have the opportunity to create:
- A small bowl on the wheel
- A spoon rest on the wheel
- A tiny house/fairy garden house using slab-building techniques
- A fused-glass sun catcher
- And adopt a piece of finished pottery to glaze and take home
All materials and steps are included in the price of this camp.
- April 8: Students will become oriented to the studio and practice setting up and centering clay on the wheel.
- April 9: Students will continue work on the wheel and throw items with the intent of keeping them. When students are done on the wheel they will be invited to select a completed piece of pottery to glaze, or create a fused glass sun catcher.
- April 10: Students will spend the day sculpting a tiny house or fairy garden.
- April 11: Students will use this day to complete projects started during the week. Activities will include trimming their wheel work, inspecting work for cracks or other challenges of drying, and trying the other art forms the studio offers.
